Best time to travel to Zanzibar

Zanzibar Island (Unguja) is the main island of Zanzibar. It’s well-known for its historical Stone Town, beautiful beaches, and spectacular nature and wildlife, both on land and in the surrounding coral reefs.

There is also a variety of beach destinations, suitable to all different tastes. The main options are the Zanzibar City area (including Stone Town), the northern beaches (Nungwi and Kendwa), the northeast (Matemwe, Kiwengwa, Pwani Mchangani), and the east coast (Michamvi, Bwejuu, Paje, and Jambiani).

The best time to travel to Zanzibar is the dry season , between July and September and between November and March. The coast is subject to a rather equatorial climate (and not tropical). Temperatures are quite stable, varying between 23° and 32° and the weather can change quickly during the day, with a small storm in the morning followed by sunny weather an hour later.

It is warm all year round on the archipelago. The heaviest rains are concentrated in the months of April and May, and light night rains occur in November. Maritime exploration by diving or snorkeling is favorable between the months of November and March.
